THE FORBIDDEN LOVE EPISODE 7

THE FORBIDDEN LOVE EPISODE 7

By Adekeye Oluwasegun Lukman | Sat, 06-Aug-2022, 21:18

That night, Mine could not sleep. She kept on thinking of the horror of the day. She rolled from one side of the bed to the other. Knowing fully well that her roommates were already sleeping, she picked up her phone to do something she was not sure of. She typed her password on the phone and unlock it. She scrolled through the phone without her knowing exactly what to do. She dropped her phone and think of what to do. It's a problem to her, she wasn't feeling sleepy. She turned her side and imagined what could have happened to her in school if Victory had not come to her rescue. She imagined herself being in that class till around ten at night without light or companion. She imagined the horror and shivered on her bed.
"What if?" She thought.
It's like a natural thing for one to think of the contrary when one fall in a terrible predicament and narrowly escape the situation. Trying to correct the scene with the imagination becomes the next ideal. One would think; what if i was there two minutes earlier or maybe two minutes later, maybe this wouldn't have happened. Even though the situation would have still yielded the same results, one would think of something different and find a suitable justification. She turned and faced the wall. She closed her eyes, darkness rushed back at her and freshened up her horrible memory. She opened her eyes in hurry and turned to look at the doll. She saw the doll well ramped around Janet like a lady missing her dearing lover. However, Beauty was staring at her over Janet's shoulder. She turned around and put her face on the pillow. She pressed it so hard.
She couldn't think of something better. A turn was equal to the other. If she should face the wall, she would be facing darkness, if she should face the center of the room, she would be smiling at Beauty's staring face which would remind her of the horrible scene. Facing the pillow was nothing better than the previous experiences. She turned around and faced the ceiling. She remembered the classroom and her dream. She wondered if Victory actually heard anything from her when she was sleeping. "I just hope i was not talking out from sleep," she said. "But i can't still comprehend this. Is this stupidity or love? Why will someone be searching for another person for over an hour in that big faculty, that dark lonely faculty? I'm afraid something is wrong with this boy. Or can we still call this love? I don't think i can love anyone like that. Not now, now ever."
She checked her phone, it was twelve in the morning. She dropped the phone and stared at the ceiling. Wondering why she was thinking about a boy at that hour of the day. "I can't believe I'm thinking about him at this hour of the day. What's so special about him anyway? My ex was better. I can say that again. If not that he was disturbing me with marriage, i had never thought of leaving him, not even for once. But who's ready for marriage when I'm yet to be through with my education? I won't even dare to bring it up to my parents. How i wish he could wait a little longer, but he won't. He believed he was getting old. If not for him, i don't see reason why i should be with this guy at all. Just forget his popularity and intelligency, that won't buy me a thing in the market after all."
She turned sideways and stole a glance at her friend. "But to be serious, is it only money one need to look at in a man?" She asked, staring at her friend not for the answer to her question, nor inspiration for other question. She stared at her, sharing her focus between her and her doll. She turned and maintained her former position. "Not only money, but some other things too." She said. One would think she was rehearsing a script for a movie production. For some minutes, she became the judge and the lawyer at the same time. She was struggling to know what else a woman should look out at in a man if not money.
She remembered how she met her ex. That was five years ago when she was writing her seniour school certificate examination. It was a coincidence. They had never seen before. She was coming back from her examination center one day when her shoe cut. She picked it up sluggishly, feeling shy. She looked around to see if no one had taken noticed of her, but unfortunately, this guy was staring at her. She returned her gaze at her shoe, preparing to hide her face shamefully till she could find a shoe maker.
Before she could raise her head, the guy was already at her front, waiting for her to stand up. She was startled seeing the guy. A strange guy at that. The guy offered to help. She looked around seeing no other means of escape, she accepted the offer helplessly. That was the beginning of five years journey.
It's all started with greeting, then conversation and gradually graduated into what they called love. Who would think their love would face such a beautiful problem. The relationship was built on a solid rock, with holiness and sincerity. Luckily for them, her father knew the guy from somewhere else before now. But what a forbidden love, her father would never agree to see them together.
Those days, when the parents used to determine the children marriage; who they can marry and who they can not, they used to have reason to support or forbid a child from marrying a particular person or from a certain family, but for their love, her father could not pinpoint what exactly was wrong with what with whom, he just wouldn't want them together.
Their love was getting stronger, so they also promised to never let go. 'Maybe we would elope' they had thought. They were not alone anyway, her mother was with them. She gave her support. She would gladly received anything from the guy without any problem, and would allowed the girl to see the guy anytime except when the father was around. They shared many things in common. Clothes, phones, perfume and many other things are stuff they shared together, just to maintain the memory. But what will be will be. Her father was never in support.
Mine hitted herself on the chest and sat up. "Why am I thinking about guys at this late hour as if i have nothing to do? Why are they even coming to my mind? Maybe i gave them space." She came down from her bed and picked some books. "This is the best sleeping medicine as much as i know. Let's see if those stupid thought would come again." She went back to her bed and start reading. Her phone rang, it was Victory. She looked at it and mute the call. "I guess he couldn't sleep either". She focused on her reading and neglected the call even when her phone rang the second time.
